Based on past games, you'll probably see a home-and-home series with a Group of 5 opponent that comes to Reno in 2023 with Nevada paying back the game on the road in 2025. 30: at Penn State (+$1.45 million) 2026 scheduleÄirectly to your question, Nevada is missing a 2023 home game against a FBS opponent (its FCS foe is covered with Idaho). Here's my running list of Nevada football's future non-conference games, with the payouts for each game attached. It'd be cool to see a handful of potential new logos, but a logo rebrand shouldn't be high on Rempe's to-do list. But there's something to be said about sticking with tradition, and the combination of the sports wolf and Pack script is fine by me. If Nevada could get the rights to the old Top Hat Wolf from North Carolina State to make that its primary logo, I'd be all for it. The Wolf Pack typically punches above its weight in merchandising, so the logo is popular enough with its fan base. I'd put Nevada's current logo in the "B" range. There's always a chance a logo refresh leads to conference-wide mocking. UNLV went for a rebrand in 2017, and its new logo was so maligned by Rebel fans it was canned even though it cost $50,000. The sports wolf, while not perfect, is better than the logo before it. And a new athletic director could look for a full rebrand. The Wolf Pack has reverted to the Pack script on its helmet since 2017, so I'd agree there's been a "phasing out" of the sports wolf. There also was one season, 2001, of the scared kitten, which you can see here. Prior to that, Nevada used either the block "N" (which is still used in baseball) or the Pack script. He apparently wasn't a fan of the sports wolf. Former Wolf Pack football coach Jay Norvell removed the sports wolf from Nevada's helmets, and you might not require two hands to count the number of times he wore that logo on his shirt or visor. I feel like it's always had a lukewarm reaction from Nevada fans. So should it do a logo rebrand, too? The Wolf Pack's current logo, the sports wolf, debuted in 2002, which makes it 20 years old. Nevada is entering a new era with a new-ish president (Brian Sandoval), a new athletic director (Stephanie Rempe), a new football coach (Ken Wilson) and a second decade in the Mountain West (the most recently completed athletic season marked 10 years for the Wolf Pack in the MW).
